As if we’ve been playing anything else for the last two weeks! Completely hooked on the Bowling on Wii Sports, so much so I have not put much of a dent in the Zelda story, but hey, I’ve got Christmas week off so I know what I’ll be doing!

Mario Kart 2 looking very familiar.

December 13, 2006

I was a little bit disappointed to see that the Mario Kart GP 2 cabinet is basically the same as the original. I know this was obviously going to be an upgrade, but was it wrong of me to expect a little more. After all this is Mario Kart we are talking about. Oh well, I’m sure it’s going to be great fun all the same. Should be out some time early next year so I’ve heard.

Dragon Quest Arcade! Woo Hoo!

December 12, 2006

dqarcade.jpg

Looks like we’re not only getting Dragon Quest 9 for the DS, but also a DQ arcade game. Don’t get too excited yet as this appears to be a Mushi King-type card fighting game.  These are OK for the kids but they are not for me. Also you would think they could come up with an original cabinet, as apposed to ripping off the Sega card battling cabinet design.

Dear Santa………

December 11, 2006

Going through ebay this morning to see if there was any arcade goodies up for grabs and realised Christmas is coming up soon. So if I’m a good boy and I get it my list in the post quick, Santa may get me one of these for Christmas. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease!

Retro fighter leads new downloadable games

If maximum volume hair, denim cut-off jackets and a relentless fist-fight sounds like a good evening out to you, Xbox Live Arcade could well save you an ASBO!

Classic 80’s side-scrolling beat-em-up, Double Dragon, is confirmed for a Marketplace debut…
Featuring the brothers Lee as they battle through a post Nuclear NYC, you fight against an evil organisation known as the Black Warriors. Whilst trying to rescue the girl and safeguard the secrets of the Double Dragons simetaneously, players will punch, kick and headbutt their way towards a final showdown with machine gun wielding boss,  Willy Mackey.

The cost or an exact release date has not been announced but this game leads yet another wave of strong Arcade titles including the cell-shaded hoverboard shooter, Street Trace: NYC, and the ‘game & watch’ nostalgia offered by Root Beer Tapper! Thanks to OXM for this one.
