Terminator Salvation 32″ cabinet

August 11, 2010

It’s been a few weeks since we first heard about the new Terminator Salvation arcade cabinet that has a smaller 32″ screen and mounted guns but except for a quick look on the AAMA Gala video, we didn’t have a really good look at the cabinet until today. Beston has issued a press release showing a 3D mock-up of the cabinet, which you can see above. It looks much like the Aliens Extermination Deluxe cabinet, which isn’t terribly surprising considering that Play Mechanix developed that game as well. The MSRP wasn’t mentioned but I imagine that it will be somewhere under $7000, with a price and a cabinet size that makes it fit well in smaller locations.

We also were sent pics of the 32″ H2Overdrive unit (which we saw at Amusement Expo) and a clean pic of Super Bikes 2

So a Chicago Bulls Dancer and a Cagefighter walk into an arcade and…

Pic from a video shoot at Raw Thrills

On Raw Thrills’ Twitter feed yesterday, they posted a link to a picture showing a Chicago Bulls Dancer working on a video shoot for something that they are working on. This video shoot also includes a cagefighter from New York. So who wants to guess what these two have to do with each other and how they might fit into a game? Could be doing some last minute filming for Super Bikes 2 as I saw that it reused the crowds from previous games like Tokyo Drift. Or it could be something else – they have filmed people before for use in games like Big Buck Hunter and Safari and Target: Terror but this doesn’t look like it fits into any of those games. Either way it’s rare to see any photos being shared of the behind-the-scenes work in an arcade game in it’s development but we should find out what it’s for soon enough.

BTW- RT has confirmed that all of the original tracks from the first Super Bikes will be in SB2.

UPDATE: More pics from Raw Thrills’ Facebook page. These are definitely for the new Super Bikes 2.

More footage of Raw Thrills' Super Bikes 2

August 6, 2010

Today is just brewing with arcade news to talk about! BMIGaming has posted a longer clip of their footage taken from the recent AAMA Gala and this time it’s from the new Super Bikes 2 by Raw Thrills. This shows that the game has 9 tracks and 12 bikes to choose from and it shows the locations you can race in (including a place from my home state, Moab, Utah).Perhaps the most unique track shown is a space level, where you travel from one planet in the solar system to another and it looks really good, especially the part where you ride through Saturn’s rings. Perhaps Raw Thrills should consider a Starfox-esque space shooter for their next game :P

Here’s a direct link for HD goodness.

Big Buck World Championship qualifiers underway this month

August 6, 2010

Hot on the tails of the 2010 DDR US Championship announcement comes another tournament that already has established it’s legs as an annual event with 2010 as the third year the event will be taking place. The Big Buck World Championships are now going through their qualifier phase as well, where players can compete on any online-enabled Big Buck Safari or Big Buck Hunter Pro machine. The grand prize you’ll be aiming for if you participate: $10,000. According to the BBS official website, here is what the top players of the regionals can expect:

It all starts with a revamped Online Qualifying Tournament that runs August 1st – 29th. The top 16 in each region will be invited to Chicago for our first-ever 2-day World Championship Weekend on October 1st and 2nd.

All four of the Regional Finals will be held on October 1st followed by the 2010 World Championship on October 2nd. If you’ve never attended the World Championship, you owe it to yourself to make this your first. Beyond the Big Buck games, the tournament, the Big Buck Girls, and the huge prizes, this event is created with you, our players, in mind.

It’s a huge party that allows players from across the country to meet, eat, and drink. Whether you win or lose, you will not walk away from the weekend disappointed.

And let’s not forget that $10,000 top prize! You can start your quest for it at your nearest online game this August.

If you want to find a location near you, all of the online-enabled machines can be found on these sites: Big Buck Safari Location Tracker / Big Buck Hunter Pro Location Tracker

The AAMA (American Amusement Machine Association) held it’s 7th annual Distributor Gala this week, an event that generally gives us a sneak peek into what to expect in arcades in the fall. Replay Magazine was there and took plenty of pictures from the event, giving us a good look at these new games. You can see all of the pictures here on Replay’s Facebook page; click the link below to see the video arcade highlights, including the new Super Bikes 2, Dead Heat and AVATAR Pinball.

Raw Thrills to release Super Bikes 2 this September

Prototype rendering of Super Bikes 2

Newsfeed 885 via

A short time ago when I heard about the creation of a new, smaller cabinet for Terminator Salvation (which we still haven’t been able to obtain any photos of) I also heard that Raw Thrills’ was updating their Super Bikes game (originally released in 2007) with a new cabinet and a major update to the software. What I wasn’t told is that the update was actually a full sequel to their wildly successful motorbike game(a game that sold over 9000 units worldwide, the source which originally told me about the new cabinet suggested).

As for Super Bikes 2, the first obvious upgrade from the original we see is the addition of a 42″ LCD screen (same thing Namco’s Nirin uses). The graphics will be getting an upgrade, there will be more tracks than the original had I am told, but for now that is all we know. I imagine that they will maintain the aspect of pulling off stunts in mid-air but we will need to wait and see. Super Bikes 2 is scheduled for a release in September.

UPDATE: The Fast and Furious license is not being used on this game so it’s just Super Bikes 2, sorry about the error earlier.

Raw Thrills’ releases Terminator Salvation Super Deluxe

July 22, 2010

The other day I had mentioned in the Twitter feed that there was a new Terminator Salvation cabinet that was being made available for release, a 32″ cabinet with mounted guns. I had no idea that they had this in the works however, a Super Deluxe cabinet somewhat similar to the Big Buck Safari Super Deluxe machine but arguably far more impressive. What I was sent is a rendering but I imagine we’ll be seeing photos of the real thing very soon.

The MSRP on this is quite notable at $17,995.00 – considering that we have seen many games that are much smaller than this go for that same price, RT is certainly making smaller games at that price point look bad. This cabinet is available now and as to where you’ll likely find it, the local amusement park is probably a good place to start.

UPDATE: Found out that it has a 100″ projected screen. With a screen that size I almost wonder why they didn’t add two extra guns to the unit.
