'Round 1' rocks SoCal with bowling, food, pool, arcades and more

September 6, 2010

A new amusement facility has opened up at the Puente Hills Shopping mall in the LA area and thanks to AH contributor Phil Arrington (who setup the Arcade Heroes videocast at Amusement Expo earlier this year and also gave us a glimpse at an auction not too long ago) we have an in-depth look at this awesome new location. Called Round 1, this is the first amusement facilities that the company has setup in the United States, with most of their locations being found in Japan. The arcade might not be the primary focus of the facility which also sports a modern bowling alley, pool tables, darts, karaoke, ping pong and food but the game selection is nothing short of impressive. Some of the titles found at Round 1: Terminator Salvation Super Deluxe (the 100″ version); a four-player Tank! Tank! Tank!; a Deadstorm Pirates; two Sega Rally 3 motion deluxe machines; four Initial D5 units; four GTI Club units; four Wangan Maximum Tune 3DX+ units; linked Street Fighter IV; two Tekken 6 cabs; Samurai Shodown Sen; a GuitarFreaks and DrumMania XG; Pump It Up Pro 2; Raiden IV and more. I hadn’t heard of GTI Club making it to the States until now and the selection shows that they are aiming to bring together some of the best titles from around the world. I would not be surprised if they will have a Darius Burst AC there when that is available, but we’ll have to wait and see.The only thing Round 1 seems to missing are some pinball machines.

Phil took a bunch of pictures of the new location, hit the link below to start the tour.

Zbowl opens it’s doors in Mebane, NC

June 11, 2010

Back in March we heard news of a new bowling center called ZBowl that was getting ready to open up in Mebane, North Carolina. At the time the location was set to open in a couple of weeks after that post but we didn’t hear anything about such a grand opening, until today. While it is a bowling center first, they also have a substantial arcade area which was put together with the help of Betson Enterprises, which is where we are getting the news from today. The website states that they have 60 games in the arcade and we have one picture from the press release showing some of that area (to the right), where among the redemption games we see a Guitar Hero, Go Ballistic, Galactix, Terminator Salvation and Big Buck Hunter: Open Season.

Click on the images below for a full view (thanks to Betson for the images)

You can visit the ZBowl website here. We wish them the best of luck in their endeavors!

Silver Strike LIVE starts shipping next week

February 11, 2010

Incredible Technologies has announced that their latest game, Silver Strike LIVE begins shipping next Monday. If you missed out on the details regarding this new title, you can find out more by clicking here. For a quick recap, the new version of SS uses more online features and the game has a large number of customization options. IT says that they have already sold over 3000 updates of the title, which goes to show the strength that the series carries at locations which carry a Silver Strike already as numbers that high before the game is available is quite impressive for coin-op. I was able to play the game at IAAPA and it looked pretty slick although the online features weren’t available at the time.  For more details, check out the press release below.

New entertainment facility under development in Omaha

November 4, 2009

If you live anywhere near Omaha Nebraska then you have a new entertainment facility to look forward to visiting sometime in the future. At the moment it is called “The V” which I am guessing stands for “The Venue”. The multimillion dollar project is currently looking for investors and other entrepreneurs to help make the project a reality and from the sounds of it, The V should be a cool place to check out once it is finished. According to the website:

The V is a 45,000 square foot multi-attraction entertainment concept consisting of a variety of amusement attractions and a casual dining restaurant targeting families, young adults and corporations.  Amusement attractions offered by The V will include a 16 lane open play bowling center, 4 lane upscale private bowling lounge, 110 player station game zone, rock climbing, mini-bowling, laser tag arena, multi-player game attractions, billiards, darts and shuffleboard.  The V will also have dedicated private meeting space for corporations and groups and party rooms available to host family parties.

As you can see from the picture above, the facility will have plenty of open space and it sounds like it will have a sizable arcade although we will have to wait and see how they will go about designing that. From the sounds of it, a major focus at the facility will be one geared towards providing a modern bowling experience. At present there is no ETA given on when they expect to have everything built and ready to go but you can find out more information can be found at the official project website here.

Incredible Technologies announces Silver Strike LIVE for Q1 2010

October 30, 2009

SpareChallenge

With Incredible Technologies rolling out the latest iteration of their Golden Tee series this month, I was wondering if we were going to hear anything about the other series they have been promoting heavily for the past few years – Silver Strike. As it turns out they have a new edition of that game preparing for a release in Q1 2010 and after the post break we’ve got plenty of details on the game. One of the most interesting aspects they have revealed about SSL is the increased focus on internet connectivity. Players will be able to win cash with every game if they so choose (although that will cost an extra $1 to play), which should prove to be a popular aspect of the game. The customization options in the game are also pretty substantial, you can find out more (including more screens) after the post break.

Silver Strike Bowling Jeep Sweepstakes video

July 29, 2008

A while back I remember that we posted about a contest involving the arcade title Silver strike Bowling 2009 where they were giving away a jeep as the grand prize but I missed out on the details of how that turned out. Fortunately a video was recently posted to youtube that covers how that went down, check it out below (thanks to Incredible Technologies for pointing this out). It’s pretty crazy that she hadn’t really played Silver Strike before and made it as the grand prize winner – that’s a nice jeep too, more kudos out to IT for giving away some awesome prizes like this.

Bowling takes amusements into Casinos

July 17, 2008

No matter what negative talk you hear, there are still new amusement sites opening up all the time. Take this example in Chile were Local Brunswick importer Family Entertainment Centre Geyger Mailath is bringing bowling alleys and arcades to all sorts of interesting venues. The company, run by Steve Geyger, handles Chile, Peru and Bolivia for Brunswick and in general they have been installing in food courts, social and sports clubs and petrol stations. But what has to be the major feather in the cap is the installations in 3 of the 15, soon to be open, Casinos in Chile.

Silver Strike Bowling Championship results

July 15, 2008

One way to get players out to the arcade is to hold a tournament of sorts – get several people signed up, offer a cash prize, etc. While operators can only do this on a limited basis, some manufacturers are holding national tournaments with big prizes to get people out and play. A fine example of this is the recent national tournament held with Incredible Technologies Silver Strike Bowling 2009. In a rather lengthy press release, the story is told of the 32 qualifiers who made it to the Vegas tournament out of the many hundreds of people that played the game. According to the press release “Over 1 million online games were played on nearly 10,000 Silver Strike Machines by players attempting to qualify for the live finals in Vegas.” Any way you look at it, that is quite good for an arcade game to have that many online games played on it and the fact that SSB09 already has nearly 10,000 machines online across the country (the game only came out a short time ago) is impressive as well.

As I mentioned, the following release (check it out after the post break where you’ll also find pictures from the event) is rather lengthy but tells the story of what went down in Vegas (which isn’t staying in Vegas in this case :P), from the beginning where it started out with 32 players vying for the prize to the last round with Dan and Mike. The story about Mike “Schmagwag” Cornwell (pictured to the left with his $10,000 prize), the new SSB Champion is intriguing and emotional and worth a read – his family was among the many who were recently devastated by the floods in Iowa, so for him to win the $10,000 prize was even more important. Congrats to Mike! [Incredible Technologies] [Discuss on the Forum]
