Shining Force Cross Raid trailer

September 15, 2010

Today is trailer day it seems. Here is a trailer for the update to Sega’s arcade RPG, Shining Force Cross Raid. This is best seen in HD. I can see a few elements from another Sega ARPG, Quest of D, which came out back in 2003 in Japan only as well. While the chances of seeing SFCR outside of Japan are pretty low since the game is tailored towards the Japanese market and the player’s taste there, I still hold out a strong hope that someone will give us an ARPG again that will be able to grace the international market. If it was done at one point with something like Gauntlet Legends or even the Capcom D&D games, then it can be done again.

Namco's Dead Heat in action

August 17, 2010

While we have posted numerous details on Namco’s newest racing game Dead Heat, which is due out this fall, we haven’t seen any in-depth video of the actual game in action, until now. This video is from Florida-based coin-op machine distributor BMI Gaming, who provided us with the footage from other games at the recent AAMA Distributor Gala. In case you need to catch up on those details about Dead Heat, you can read more about it here.

More footage of Raw Thrills' Super Bikes 2

August 6, 2010

Today is just brewing with arcade news to talk about! BMIGaming has posted a longer clip of their footage taken from the recent AAMA Gala and this time it’s from the new Super Bikes 2 by Raw Thrills. This shows that the game has 9 tracks and 12 bikes to choose from and it shows the locations you can race in (including a place from my home state, Moab, Utah).Perhaps the most unique track shown is a space level, where you travel from one planet in the solar system to another and it looks really good, especially the part where you ride through Saturn’s rings. Perhaps Raw Thrills should consider a Starfox-esque space shooter for their next game 😛

Here’s a direct link for HD goodness.

Fall 2010 video preview from the AAMA Distributor Gala

August 2, 2010

Newsfeed 892 via

As promised here is some video footage from the recent AAMA Distributor Gala, taken by the fine folks at BMIGaming (website here, video channel here). In the video you’ll see the first footage from the new Terminator Salvation cabinets(32″ & 100″), Super Bikes 2 (we found out after the video was produced that it DOES NOT carry the Fast and Furious license so it’s just Super Bikes 2), AVATAR Pinball, Dead Heat, Rambo, HUMMER MDX. Enjoy!

A longer look at Blue Works' FORCE

July 2, 2010

A short while back we covered a student project in Taiwan that set out to recreate an experience similar to Atari’s Warlords, but with modern graphics and a few changes to the formula. At the time we only had a brief teaser look at the game but now they have produced a much longer video which shows the game in action, both from a direct feed as well as some footage of it being played at SOGO, an expo that took place in Taiwan in May.

As a big fan of Warlords and games like it, I would love to see this picked up by one of the arcade manufacturers in Taiwan so it can get a wider release. I would change a couple of things if it were me – namely a scoring system and an explosion effect to occur when a player is destroyed. Otherwise it looks like great multiplayer fun.

Taito's new trailer for Gaia Attack 4

June 18, 2010

It’s been a few months since we first saw Taito’s newest foray into the realm of light-gun shooters, Gaia Attack 4 and today they released a full trailer for the title on their Japanese Youtube channel. To bring you up to speed on this in case you missed it, GA4 is a four-player light-gun shooter that overlays CG effects that you shoot on top of real world footage. Is there a chance that this could see an international release? We’re not sure but seeing how they are trying out Elevator Action Death Parade internationally, you never say never. A four-player light-gun arcade game is also something that is a novelty these days with which can grab it extra attention based upon that fact alone. The last one I know of was Konami’s Warzaid and that came out in 2003 (as a sidenote, the only one I have ever seen was when I was in Brazil recently).
