“Vulcan-X” looks to steal Vulcan-M’s thunder

June 8, 2010

It wasn’t too long ago that we first heard about Vulcan-M, a new light-gun title by Korean company Rassen. It already has a competitor with Vulcan-X by ChinaAmuse. Like Vulcan-M the game has a large cabinet and chaingun style light-guns although instead of one gun, Vulcan-X has two. The product description mentions “live-fire shooting” so it sounds like they have tried to imitate the Vulcan-M experience as much as possible (you might recall that Vulcan M had a rotating gun barrel, a shell-loading and ejecting system and even smoke that spews from the barrel).  I haven’t found of videos of this in action yet and all we have is the graphic above (which might be using another game for the shots there – looks like a 3D side-scroller like the new Bionic Commando) so we’ll have to wait to hear more.

Also from the same page showing off Vulcan X there a couple of other new games by this company, including a nice looking  cartoony game with wolves and sheep and a card game called the Lord of Pets.

You can see it all here @ Chinaamuse.com.

While most of the attention towards expos has been going towards GTI lately, there was another expo that took place recently in Dubai that involved amusement products and that was the Dubai Entertainment Amusement & Leisure show or DEAL 2010 for short. Kevin Williams of The Stinger Report had the opportunity to go there and check everything out, so let’s take a look.

Rassen seeking to bring Vulcan-M and Shooting Star to the US UPDATE Vulcan now at Trocadero in London

March 17, 2010

Of all the light-gun games we have discussed in recent times, perhaps one of the most surprising setups we have seen is the new content coming from Korean company Rassen as they seek to break into the amusement/digital out-of-home entertainment market. They demonstrated Vulcan-M at EAG (which features a realistic looking chaingun that expels shells and even smoke) and now they have sent us some information on this and one other game that they are seeking to bring to the US market. They do not have a distribution channel in the US yet but they hope to secure one soon.

Since we have covered Vulcan-M previously I am not going to get into too much detail on that, although they sent a brochure in English that I have posted after the break. The other new game they have revealed is Shooting Star, a large multiplayer game that is reminiscent of the classic Duck Hunt (or QWAK! if you want to be a purist). Like Vulcan-M, Rassen has taken pains to recreate realistic looking guns which according to them: “We use short gun, pistol, rifle, etc., which are specially made to give the feelings of real guns by providing realistic back blow, burst sound, ejection of cartridge case, etc. We also use 8 M long ultra wide projection screen for users to fully experience the feeling of real shooting place.”

They also provided a brochure for Shooting Star but it’s over 300MB in size so I’ll hold off on uploading that unless you are really curious to see it. Otherwise the video below should suffice.

I have also added both of these games to the United States column on our Arcade Release list for 2010.

UPDATE: Thanks to RJay on the forums it appears that Vulcan-M is now at the Trocadero in London set at £2 per play. I realize that I am quite late in pointing this out, sorry about that. Source

Rassen products to launch at EAG 2010

January 23, 2010

With less than a week to go until the European Amusement and Gaming expo opens in London, we have received the news that Electrocoin Sales will be launching the products of the Korean company Rassen at the show. The company is concerned with military simulation products, two of which are shown in the promotional video we’ve seen. The first is Vulcan M, a large lightgun game with a variety of immersive cabinet features, featuring a fixed machine gun. The second is Military Camp, which focuses on smaller, hand-held weaponry. Though it’s hard to catch much game footage in the trailers, both games appear to feature very realistic visuals. Other details are scarce at present (not least due to our lack of Korean language skills), so until EAG rolls around you’ll need to settle for the trailer below.
