Wall Street Fighter IV

April 23, 2009

[Thanks for the link Paul]

It’s a little cheesy but it’s been a  little while since I had seen these fighter mock-ups between two people with a video game appearance. This one is about the state of the US economy and who is kicking who’s butt. Of course it’s a very simplified view of everything that has gone on and it’s a bit cheesy but it’s good for a laugh.

Dream Arcades releases the Dreamcade Impact cabinet just for fighter games

February 12, 2009

Street Fighter IV will be out for the consoles in just a few short days and while you could go and buy the Mad Catz sticks to get that supposedly authentic arcade experience, the da2f2company Dream Arcades has created a home arcade cabinet that is made just for fighters like SFIV. Users can plug a PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 into the cabinet and then start enjoying fighting games on the ‘real’ thing. It even comes with  Hyper Street Fighter II, Street Fighter III – 3rd Strike and Street Fighter IV to get you started. The press release after the break holds more details.

EVO Championship Series 2009 Game line-up announced

February 4, 2009

Everybody’s favorite arcade fighter tournament, the Evolution Championship Series (aka EVO) is slowly coming up (it happens in July in good ol’ Las Vegas) and as such they have revealed the list of games one can expect to find if they go to the event. So if you fancy any of the games on the list and you want to compete, there is plenty of time for you to get in some practice. The games are:

Street Fighter IV

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Soul Calibur IV

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

Street Fighter III: Third Strike

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (Exhibition)

Strangely BlazBlue is missing from the list but that is likely because the console version hasn’t come along yet, which is too bad really. It also would be awesome to see KOFXII there which will be available by July but I guess this is more of a “games that appeared on arcades but are available on consoles” sort of thing as all the games will be running on a console of sorts instead of a proper arcade machine.  They also dropped Super Smash Bros. Brawl from the tournament so no luck there in case you happen to be a champion at that game but on on these other fighters.Either way it looks like a good line-up and should prove to be quite an entertaining competition to watch.

Street Fighter gets an energy drink

December 23, 2008

I am not a fan of energy drinks but when Street Fighter has an energy drink named “Dragon Punch”, I’m tempted to get one just for the collection value alone. I am not sure what is in this or what flavor it is but what ever it may be, it’s not intended for children (of course, I guess no energy drink is). The artwork on the can is cool enough and you can by a box of 24 cans for about $65 or a single can for about $3. That seems normal for what they charge for energy drinks but unless it turns you into a lean, mean fighting machine then it had better taste good for that price.

Street Fighter 4 Location Tracker

August 20, 2008

It’s not so easy for those of us outside of Japan to play Street Fighter 4, what with there not being that many of them about. But to make life easy for us EventHubs.com has started listing the locations of every SF4 out in the wild. Still no sign of one in Europe, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to get our grubby little hands on one.

Evo 2008

August 7, 2008

The Evo 2008 Championships starts tomorrow, with players battling it out on games such as 3rd Strike, MVC2 and Smash Bros Brawl. For those of you who don’t know about these champions here’s the mission statement;

The EVO Championship Series represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. EVO events bring together the best of the best from around the world in a dazzling exhibition of skill and fun, as players and fans gather to honor the competitive spirit in an open format and determine a champion.

But what’s best about this event is that it’s not completely hardcore. There are stations setup for everyone and anyone to play. So it’s a great chance to meet some people, have fun and kick some ass!
