Street Fighter IV Tournament

September 3, 2008

Capcom have announced the Street Fighter IV National Tournament. Qualifiers for the finals will be held across Japan from November 1st to December 7th. The venues for these are still to be announced, but we do know the finals will be held in Shinagawa on January 18th. Obviously it would be great to go there, but I’m sure there will be PLENTY of videos on YouTube for us to enjoy. Anyone want to take a guess and who the winners character will be?

Street Fighter 4 Arcade Posters

June 26, 2008

You know what they say; things come in 3’s. That and all I keep coming across this morning is Street Fighter news. I’ll keep this one short and sweet. The Japanese Street Fighter 4 blog threw up some pictures of these awesome posters they will be using in arcades to promote SF4. So here they are…

Rufus joins the ranks of Street Fighter IV

April 14, 2008

So we have another new entry to join the rest of the Street Fighter 4 crew and his name is Rufus. I can’t help it but he just reminds me of Bob from Tekken 6 (can you blame me?). Check out the video below of the larger than life Rufus.

Even more Street Fighter IV News

February 27, 2008

It’s never ending isn’t it? Two more pieces of SF4 news has filtered through, both from Kotaku.

First up there is talk that the console version of Street Fighter 4 will include a bigger roster. This news disappoints me slightly, obviously. Perhaps they will release these characters in a later revision of the arcade game?

The second piece of news is that more stages have been spotted in Japanese location tests. Hardly surprising news, but good to know it’s coming along nicely.

On a side note I am starting to worry about the hype around this game and I just hope it lives up to my expectations. To be fair everything I’ve heard from GDC is that it’s pretty darn solid and is reminiscent of SF2. If the later is true then I’ll be more than happy.

Street Fighter IV Hi-Res Picture Overload

February 12, 2008

Just checks out these latest Hi-Res pictures of Street Fighter IV and I dare you not to drawl! I have to saw the more and more I see of this game, the more and more I’m getting excited. It could all just be nostalgia though so I’m trying not to hype it up too much for myself though.

New Street Fighter IV Famitsu scans confirm orignal characters are back

February 6, 2008

[Scans via Ruliweb]

Fridays issue of Famitsu is set to reveal that the original cast of SFIV are back. I think it’s pretty safe to presume that this is the news that Shizowa was talking about on the Street Fighter IV dev blog which he could not talk about until Friday. Coincidence? I think not. Still, I will be keeping an eye on the site just in case anything new arises.

So from the tiny screen on these scan we can make out the following characters; Chun Li, Zangief, Blanka, Guile, Dhalsim & E Honda. Plus Ryu & Ken and we have the original cast from the first Street Fighter 2. When thinking about it, it’s a bit of a no brainer including all these characters because leaving one of them out would have caused uproar among Street Fighter fans. I don’t know what I would have done if they had left out Chun Li.

What’s really important now is who the new fighters are. We already know of one, Crimson Viper, which we don’t know much about. But what other characters, special moves and surprises do Capcom have in store for us? I guess we will have to just stay tuned. Can’t wait!
