Silver Strike Bowling Winners for May & June

August 9, 2008

There have been a lot of official competitions being run by arcade developers lately and with those, winners to gather the prizes. First off is Silver Strike Bowling, which continues to hold competitions with monthly prize giveaways. According to IT, it shouldn’t be too hard to find an SSB09 in the US as there are 7,000 locations that have upgraded to the game since April (it is true that not all of those are arcades but many are bars but either way it’s attention for arcade games).  In May they gave away a brand new Jeep (where the winner also got $300 in gas money, as pictured)and in June a $5,000 gift card to Bass Pro Shops. More details are in the press release below but I just wanted to take the time to point out that this is one thing that makes arcades great – friendly competitions with great prizes. Playing a competition with people over the internet is one thing but this is entirely different and better.

Silver Strike Bowling Championship results

July 15, 2008

One way to get players out to the arcade is to hold a tournament of sorts – get several people signed up, offer a cash prize, etc. While operators can only do this on a limited basis, some manufacturers are holding national tournaments with big prizes to get people out and play. A fine example of this is the recent national tournament held with Incredible Technologies Silver Strike Bowling 2009. In a rather lengthy press release, the story is told of the 32 qualifiers who made it to the Vegas tournament out of the many hundreds of people that played the game. According to the press release “Over 1 million online games were played on nearly 10,000 Silver Strike Machines by players attempting to qualify for the live finals in Vegas.” Any way you look at it, that is quite good for an arcade game to have that many online games played on it and the fact that SSB09 already has nearly 10,000 machines online across the country (the game only came out a short time ago) is impressive as well.

As I mentioned, the following release (check it out after the post break where you’ll also find pictures from the event) is rather lengthy but tells the story of what went down in Vegas (which isn’t staying in Vegas in this case :P), from the beginning where it started out with 32 players vying for the prize to the last round with Dan and Mike. The story about Mike “Schmagwag” Cornwell (pictured to the left with his $10,000 prize), the new SSB Champion is intriguing and emotional and worth a read – his family was among the many who were recently devastated by the floods in Iowa, so for him to win the $10,000 prize was even more important. Congrats to Mike! [Incredible Technologies] [Discuss on the Forum]

Some prizes to expect for Silver Strike Bowling 2009

We have mentioned Silver Strike Bowling 2009 a few times recently, as Incredible Technologies has been making a large effort to make the game attractive with the number of prizes that they are offering via contests with the game. I received a short list of some new items they are offering with the game, in addition to the $100,000 national championship – if you don’t get that you could end up winning a $10,000 Home Depot gift card or a brand new Jeep Wrangler. The more national tournaments like this with big money and big prizes (“I love it!”) are the sort of things we need to see with our arcade games.

Silver Strike Bowling 2009 release and some big prize giveaways.

In a press release sent out today by Incredible Technologies, they have some big prizes that they have given away in conjunction with their SSB Sweepstakes that is always running along with SSB 2007. The grand prize winners for December and January received some fun they could run around in – one received a Harley-Davidson Soft Tail Motorcycle for the winner in Wisconsin and for another winner in Florida they received 2 brand new Sea Doo Jet Skis. From the press release:

In early January, the Port Richey, FL native and her husband Billy made the simple decision to purchase Silver Strike player cards. Having heard of the benefits of being cardholders – namely the opportunity to enter the sweepstakes – the two saw it as a great way to get the most out of their Silver Strike game play.

Well on January 25, Susan’s new card gave her the ultimate return on investment when it helped her become the January winner of two brand new Sea-Doo jet skis!

This is one reason I’d like to get connected with SSB in my own arcade – for players that get the cards from participating venues I think it gives some extra value for them as in addition to the big prizes, IT constantly gives away cash prizes. With the new SSB 2009, they will be giving away even more prizes. And speaking of that, the press release also reveals that Silver Strike Bowling 2009 will be released next month in April. I don’t doubt that it will be at ASI so we will see how players and operators react to the game next week.
