Disney’s 3D Ping Pong as seen at GTI Expo + a few more GTI pics

May 15, 2010

I know you are possibly sick of hearing about GTI by now but new things are trickling out that are noteworthy enough, so let’s get on with it! Thanks to Joe for the link to this collection of photos by David Liu. I’ll start out with commenting on the photo above – Disney’s 3D Ping Pong. We’ve talked about it before – it’s an official Disney product and it uses stereoscopic 3D TV’s that don’t need glasses. Interesting how on film the images are very dark. This one is supposed to be available next Thursday, should be interesting to see how it’s received. With Disney dabbling not only into 3D like this in the gaming world but also the coin-op arcade sector, could we possibly see a Tron arcade game coming out along with the movie? That might be a long shot but if they are serious about coin-op with this game then why not?

There are a few more pics from GTI, hit the break to check them out.

A rundown of the GTI Asia Taipei Expo 2010

May 8, 2010

After almost a week of waiting, we finally have a more in-depth look at what went on at the GTI Asia Taipei Expo 2010 in Taiwan this past weekend. To show us what was there, Youtube user HawTian posted three videos but unfortunately they are nauseating slideshows that zip along with a picture a second. To save you the trouble, I watched through the videos a couple of times and wrote down when you can find the different arcade games for each title, so you can pause the video, let it load and then scroll to what you want to see. If some better videos come along then I’ll either update this post or make a new one, depending upon the content. Videos and more embedded after the break

GTI Asia Taipei Expo 2010 kicks off UPDATED

May 2, 2010

Another amusement show is upon us and this time it’s the annual GTI Asia Taipei Expo, currently being Taipei, Taiwan. Almost 100 exhibitors are there to show off their products and over the next few days we hope to have some material to show you. It’s already been announced that IGS has a couple of new games there, such as Anger Explosion and Three Kingdom War but so far there are no details on what either of those games entail (could Three Kingdom War be a new beat ‘em up?) at the moment.

While details are scant so far on what’s at the show, we already have one video showing off a new touch screen music game called Theia, by Taiwanese company Hypaa. (The Mozarc video was removed by the user who posted it)

UPDATE: The resourceful guys at Bemanistyle found out who makes the game and found their website. Created by Hypaa they also found out that there is another music game beyond Mozarc called Theia, which was their first game. It looks like Mozarc is a newer project and Theia is an older one no one had heard of before. While Mozarc works like a Beatmania clone, Theia is more of a vertical DJ Max Technika clone as you can see above. Bemanistyle also says that a uBeat clone is at the show called Magic Box. It’s unfortuante that because of the similarities of all these games to other music titles that the makers probably won’t get very far without being sued.

UPDATE#2 another video of Mozarc is back

The original video I had found of Mozarc is back online and now with a new part. Hopefully the user won’t pull it again.
