Konami releases GTI Club – Supermini Festa in Europe

October 7, 2009

GTI Cabinet

Fans of Konami’s GTI Club can finally look forward to actually playing the game that was seen last January as Konami and Electrocoin demonstrated the final release version of the game, GTI Club – Supermini Festa at the FER Interazar exhibition in Madrid, Spain recently. As you can see above, the deluxe version varies a bit from those “quaint shop” style cabinets that had been seen previously on location tests and at ATEI 2009.  Konami will be showing the game off at a couple of other upcoming European trade shows as well – for more info on that, see the press release after the break.

Interview with Konami about GTI Club+

November 28, 2008

Konami is updating the original GTI Club for the Playstation 3 (the full name is GTI Club+ Rally Cote D’Azur) and releasing it over PSN as an exclusive title for the platform. It will play like the arcade original but with gticlubbetter graphics and a few other updates. In an interview with Philip Macdonald, producer of the game, they discuss the upcoming title in detail and surprisingly the new arcade version is mentioned. While they will not be the same games, it looks like they may offer tracks from the new arcade racer (see details on that one here and here) as downloads for the remake on PSN as well. Hit the link below for the interview, unfortunately there is not much else on the new arcade version of GTI Club(perhaps we’ll hear more at ATEI) but at least the interviewer knows about its existence.

Konami’s GTI Club Cabinet revealed

July 24, 2008

I’m used to seeing arcade cabinets designed in a way to attract people’s attention but I have to say that this new image of Konami’s upcoming Mini racer, GTI Club takes the cake for anything I’ve seen lately. It portrays the look of a quaint shop you’d find in a narrow alley way in certain cities (not any where I live) which is not what I expected when I first read about GTI Club. In case you’re out of the loop in this racer, it is a sequel to a Konami game of the same name that was released way back in 1997 and it involves racing with Mini’s. In addition to that it has special game modes such as Mini-Soccer and one with something involving bombs. It certainly has piqued my curiosity but with it testing in Japan now, it probably will still be a little while before it gets out to the general public.

Konami Testing sequel to GTI Club in Japan

March 24, 2008

My sister loves Mini’s (not M&M’s but the cars) so much that she bought agti-01l.jpg brand new one last year. It’s a cool car but personally I would hate to be stuck with those payments so I’ll go for the next best thing – an arcade racer based on Mini’s! Of course with the price tag the arcade will probably cost about half of what a real Mini does but that mostly matters to the operator so players will be able to get some virtual ‘Mini’ action for cheap, if Konami brings their new racer GTI Club to arcades overseas. We don’t have any direct screenshots of the game yet but Kobayan.jp has a picture of the poster being used at the location test and you can see a really small picture of the cabinet in the lower right hand corner. For info on the original GTI Club, check out the entry for the game on KLOV.com.
