GlobalVR has released a few more details on their new racer Twisted, which debuts this Friday at the Distributor Gala in Chicago. According to the flyer, the game will have 5 tracks to race on (which is similar to NASCAR – perhaps they will add more later, as they did with NASCAR) and it can link up to four units. The mini-motion cabinet is a new feature, although motion cabinets by GlobalVR in themselves have been done with their previous racers. While there are only five tracks, it sounds like you can change the type of terrain you race on with each one and they have three track categories: Aerobatics, Jump and Supercross. You can read the details by clicking on the link below (or the image above) for the flyer.
After I got a chance to play GlobalVR’s last game, Justice League, at ASI, I asked them about what was next in their line-up of games but all they did was smile and say that they didn’t have anything to say about that yet. Well it looks like we’ll all get a look at it next week when they debut their latest game at the Distributor Gala in Chicago next week on July 24th. Named Twisted: Nitro Stunt Racing, this game will come in 3 flavors, a “mini-motion” cabinet which features a motion seat and a 42″ LCD, a non-motion 42″ LCD version and a standard 32″ LCD version. Each version will be released at different times, with the mini-motion version coming in August and the other two coming in September.
After doing a little bit of research, it appears that the game was created by French studio Game Seed, and this will be a port of the PC version of the same game, although that was just called Nitro Stunt Racing as opposed to Twisted, so we will have to wait and see how the two differ. Either way I don’t know how well-known this game is outside of France but from what I have seen of it so far, it looks like a very fun game where you get to race along giant loops, jump off huge ramps and other jumps or race through twisting tubes. Graphically it is very sleek, quite colorful and carries a solid frame rate from the video I have seen of the arcade version. I’m not able to share that video yet although I did find a bunch of videos of the PC version of the game on Youtube, one of which I’ll post here.
