Power Instinct returns this summer

April 8, 2009

[Thanks to Brandon Jones for the tip!]

Here is something we overlooked from AOU 2009 – Atlus is bringing one of their classic fighters back to arcades, Power Instinct. From the video below it looks like Power Instinct with a little bit of KOFXII flare to it. The game will use the Taito Type X system and it will be released sometime this summer. See the video below and if you want to know more about Power Instinct, click here or here.

Hey Vulcan Wars, where have you been all this time? UPDATED

August 10, 2008

Way back in September we reported on a new light-gun shooter by Atlus Japan called Vulcan Wars. It was shown at JAMMA 07 and even then there was very little info available on the game and since then the game had disappeared – until now as the game has shown up on a location test in Japan. It looks like the cabinet hasn’t changed much from last September (it’s still gigantic) but unfortunately we still have almost no information on how the game plays (it still looks like you are in a gunship of some sort). Maybe this time it will test well and stick around for us to find out more about it.

UPDATE: I came across a very interesting piece of information about Vulcan Wars. This is not so much a light gun game and there is a reason why it features this type of cabinet. The guns apparently fire “live-ammunition” – BBs to be exact. I guess this explains why the game has been delayed as they have worked on figuring out how to make this work (without causing physical harm to people). From the site where I uncovered this information, it seems that the game is quite difficult. Now I’d like to find out more about how this works and what material they have made the screen out of. Ice cream crane game

July 17, 2008

Now if the good old British summer would sort itself out, this new crane could do well!

Atlus has developed the first ever crane machine designed to contain ice cream prizes. The machine, Triple Catcher Ice -25C, uses the latest freezing technology to maintain a temperature of -25C to ensure that the ice cream remains solid enough to avoid harm from play.

The machine can be played by four people at once, with four separate areas where the ice cream prizes are held.
