Target Toss Pro: Bags heads to the Wii

November 18, 2008

I found this as a little bit of a surprise as Incredible Technologies hasn’t taken many games over from the coin-op market to the home market (they did do a GT game for cell phones last year) but I suppose that services like WiiWare are becoming irresitible to tossitdevelopers from every corner and Toss Pro is a game where it’s a no-brainer to see it work with the Wiimote. I still haven’t played the arcade version of the game yet (I saw it at AMOA but spent my time playing Power Putt Golf) but I wonder if this means that IT will begin to send more of their games over to the Wii.

In another IT related topic, I noticed that the youtube service being offered by Golden Tee LIVE 2009 is in full swing now. If you type in ‘arcade’ or ‘Golden Tee’ and hit most recently added there are videos of great shots all over the place. I would need to practice quite a bit to manage some of those.

The Stinger Report – UK Distributors at Open-Day Meetings

July 27, 2007

The latest Stinger Report covers the gatherings of UK amusement distributors at recent events such as the Park Avenue Open-Day and BAR.07, both held in London.  A number of popular games were available, including most of Incredible Technologies offerings (minus Golden Tee LIVE 2008). Surprisingly IT brought along the European version of ‘Target Toss Pro: Bags’ which has been renamed simply to ‘BAGS’ for the aforementioned market. They also demonstrated the modified European version of ‘Silver Strike 2007 Bowler’s Club’ which includes a Tournament feature and the same distributor for IT products, Electrocoin also demonstrated the first production upright units for ‘Chase HQ 2’.

Among other news in the Stinger Report for today, they also report that Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer Arcade Championship’ is running into some trouble. A direct quote from The Stinger Report:

However TSR has learned that licensing issues regarding the soccer teams and players represented in the amusement version has meant that plans to release the arcade version has been suspended for an undefined period meaning no deployment of the e-AMUSEMENT system in the UK – this could mean that it will miss a 2007 release window – TSR awaits a official statement on the arcade game’s status.

Hopefully Konami can sort those issues out before the end of the year.

July 17, 2007

Here’s another three games added over at Highway Games.

Target Toss Pro Bags

Target Toss Pro Bags is a new product based on the popular game of beanbag toss, otherwise known as “Bags” or “Cornhole”. Target Toss Pro Bags is a trackball-controlled arcade game that is as fun, challenging and as competitive as the real thing.

Sonic Spinner

Sonic Spinner is a one player ticket dispensing redemption game from SEGA. The game play is simple, with the player simply pressing a button to stop the spinner with the aim of landing on a high ticket payout.

Tekken 6

The latest installment in the popular fighting series is scheduled to be released later this year, with Namco revealing that the deluxe Tekken 6 cabinet will go on sale in early November, with the standard cabinet to be released in early December.

Target Toss Pro’s Sweet Thud of Success

June 15, 2007

When I first heard about Target Toss Pro from Incredible Technologies I have to admit that I doubted the appeal of this sort of game. As usual it was good to see something different from the coin-op norm but at the same time I have never thought of playing bag toss as a video game. But from a press release I found today it looks like the game is fast becoming a huge success.

“Since unveiling Target Toss Pro: Bags (http://www.targettosspro.com/) at the Las Vegas Nightclub & Bar Show in February, Incredible Technologies can’t produce the game consoles[probably should read cabinets] fast enough.

Like beanbag toss, the object of Bags is simple: toss a beanbag into the hole of a platform, or box. If you “put it in the basement,” as the players say, you get three points. Land the beanbag on the box, and you get one point. Of course with Bags, the beanbags and box are virtual.”

IT also added a few other interesting features to the game:

In addition to one and three pointers, Bags players can score five points for a virtual “swish” (a perfect shot). And they can turn up the heat with side-action features like Vegas Bags (which awards a playing card for each ringer, allowing competitors to play a hand of poker, too) and Call the Shot (which pauses the bag mid-flight, so players can guess if they’re going to score or not).”

Overall it sounds pretty interesting and it probably works well as a party game. If this release is any indication, this will be showing up in many bars across the US (and hopefully elsewhere) soon and with a fairly attractive price tag (compared to most other new coin-op games) it will probably remain pretty competitive for a while.
