Incredible Technologies announces SSB Sweepstakes, will give away bigger prizes

December 19, 2008

ssbc-sweeps-logo

In these troubled times that we hear and see so much about lately, there are some good reasons to head over to your local arcade place which has online enabled games because competition in this arena is starting to heat up.  In the latest press release from Incredible Technologies, they are throwing down the gauntlet by making the announcement about increasing the prizes for Silver Strike Bowling online by 50% next year, while keeping the fees for operators unchanged. That’s pretty bold move considering the perceived and real state of the economy, but business is about taking risks and making bold moves, even when the going is tough. According to the release, the typical monthly prize is going to raise from $5000 to $7500 and they are getting rid of the ten $100 weekly winner prizes and are replacing that with one $1000 winner per week. If you feel like you need a ‘bailout’ of sorts, then it looks like online arcade competition gaming is going to be a good place to look for it.

Big Buck Safari begins online tournaments

December 13, 2008

While the kit to put big Buck Safari online has been available for a little while now, it wasn’t until Dec. 1st that the tournaments began. But Dec. 1st has come (and past – sorry about the delay on this) and so right now online enabled versions of the game allow players to participate in the tournament that is offering a top prize of $250 with a total prize pool of $750. They are promising that as more machines come online, the bigger the prizes will be. The BBS online tournament ends on Dec. 21st.

Even though tournaments have begun on BBS, that isn’t ending the tourneys for Big Buck Hunter Pro. The Reindeer Games tournament is offering a larger prize pool and it fits into a Christmas theme. The BBHPro tournament ends on Dec. 27th. Thanks to the prize pools on both games, you have a good chance at winning a little extra cash for the holidays.

For more details, check out the press release after the jump or discuss on the forum.

Jerad’s Choice BBH Online Tourney

November 12, 2008

Sorry about the lack of updates the past few days – I’ve been busy, busy ,busy with the arcade and other things in life. It seems like when one machine breaks down they all decide to take a trip with it. I can just say at least most machines carry a 1 year warranty. Those that don’t deserve harsh criticism (90 days, are you flippin’ kidding me?) but that’s a fun subject for a later time.

Right now, BBH Online players have another tournament to look forward to, called Jerad’s Choice. Jerad Berg jerad_screenis the winner of the recent BBH World Championship and he has picked his own tourney to hold for November. Like usual, all you need to do is find a BBH Online machine and give it a ‘shot’ (har har) in the online tournament mode and you have a chance at winning $500, with additional payouts in smaller amounts going out to the other 99 placers. So your chance of winning something at the very least is quite good! Hit the post break for more information on the tourney from the press release. In the meantime, I know that we can expect to hear about Big Buck Safari Online tournaments shortly, so stay tuned.

Raw Thrills' @ AMOA 08 – Nicktoons Nitro, Big Buck Safari Online & Eugene Jarvis!

September 12, 2008

Continuing with our AMOA ’08 coverage we’ll start with the first video game booth I saw at the show, Betson/Raw Thrills’. They had a spacious booth that was spearheaded by six Nicktoons Nitro games as you’ll see in the video below. I do like the game – it captures the kart racing feel perfectly, it has a subtle sense of humor, the graphics are pretty good (once again I did film the game with my HD camcorder but you wouldn’t know it after it goes through the Youtube filter) and I love the sound. They also had a number of Big Buck cabinets about – two Safari Deluxe cabs (currently scheduled for release on Oct. 1st), a couple of Hunter Pro Online cabs and eight BBSafari Online cabs. The Online upgrade is available now although the first tournament won’t be until November. Also thanks to Ryan at Betson I got some ‘schwag’ in the form of Big Buck Safari T-Shirts. I’ll be giving some of these away in some form (probably a competition) at my arcade, they are professionally done though. I had some great conversations with Ryan and he also introduced me to a number of people including Eugene Jarvis! We had a great conversation for a little while where we talked about arcade gaming in general as well as what RT is up to for the future. I look forward to talking with him more in the future. 🙂

I also talked with the people at Betson about finding a way to add a keypad to my Tokyo Drift’s. Since I got Crusin’ USA cabinets that don’t have that feature, I’d like to find a way to add it to the cabinets so players can keep track of their cars. I don’t have anything figured out yet but I’m going to be looking into it further. They also had a few cabinets with an LCD screen in the cabinet, which looked pretty nice. I noticed more LCD stuff at the show and I am thinking of getting one or two, if I can afford it.

Anyways, enough blabbling, here’s some video! First is Nicktoons Nitro, second is BBS Online.

Golden Tee LIVE 2009 goes on sale Aug. 4th, shipping in September

July 30, 2008

I’ve been hearing a lot of hints floating around that there are a lot of big announcements coming from arcade companies this fall (in particular at the AMOA show) and from what I can tell without getting into many details (as I can’t at the moment since I don’t actually know many of the details), this fall is going to see some good changes along with many great games coming our way, making 2008 the best year for arcades this decade.

To start that off we have an update from Incredible Technologies regarding their flagship franchise, Golden

Golden Tee in 1989

Golden Tee in 1989

Tee. As you may know, the first Golden Tee came out in 1989 and they have been going strong ever since. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the game, IT is going to put GT2009 Live on sale next week on August 4th and the game will ship in mid-September. The new version of GT will sport some cool new features including Youtube Great Shot Replays where players can upload their shots to Youtube; customized clothing; Closest-to-the-Pin LIVE, a new tournament mode where players can win $50; the Hit List, which will bring new music to the game and will first feature the Dave Matthew’s Band; and new clubs from Callaway, Odyssey and Top Flite Equipment, considered to be the best golf club manufacturers in the world. On top of all this there are new courses as well as a player-designed course that we spoke of some time ago.

For more details, check out the press release after the break!

Next up on the Big Buck Hunter tournies – RAM JAM

July 12, 2008

Big Buck Safari has been one of my best earning games at my arcade recently (although last week it was beat by (brace yourselves) Indiana Jones Pinball which was the best earning game for that period) and I can hardly wait for the online update that it should have later this year which should help improve its earnings even more as I’ll be able to join in with these tournaments that are constantly being held with BBHPro Online. The latest tournament is called RAM JAM. It’s running from the 7th to the 27th and the winner will get $500 but there are cash prizes for everyone up to the 100th place, which is pretty cool. Check your local arcade/FEC/bar/theater or whoever has an online version of BBHPro to participate.

The Big Buck Bowl

May 8, 2008

As I mentioned in the last post, I went to my distributor today to talk about games and some options and one thing we talked about was Big Buck Hunter Online. I did have a chance to play this online a few weeks ago and I automatically saw the appeal – where the game shows you national high scores and it tells you who has it and where they got the score, it gives you that extra incentive to try and beat them out. From the looks of it, BBHPro Online(which uses the CoinUp System) is doing extremely well right now and it should be interesting to see how Safari does when they give that online capability as well.

To give players even more of a reason to play BBHPro Online, Play Mechanix has announced the May National Tournament for the game called the “Big Buck Bowl”. The tournament starts today and will go until May 27th with 52 winners taking home over $2000 in prize winnings. According to the press release, over 17,000 players have created accounts for the game, which is pretty good considering that the game just finished it’s beta phase.

Details on Big Buck Hunter Pro Online

April 22, 2008

Raw Thrills’ and Play Mechanix have been working on the latest version of Big Buck Hunter Pro for sometime now and with the game finally hitting the streets one may wonder how the online functions work. Obviously it will make more sense if you find an online -enabled version and try it out but so you know what to expect here are some bullet points on what to expect from the new version how it works:

  • – 20% more content with the addition of Caribou and three more bonus rounds
  • Online Tools that allow the operator to check the machine out online for diagnostic or financial updates
  • Also look for additional content to be downloaded to online machines
  • Promotion with National tournaments and the ability to create your own tournaments quickly and easily. Trophy Club is a player tracking system that also includes Hunting Parties, which is a high score contest between a closed group. Think Fantasy Football meets Big Buck Hunter Pro

From what I was told at ASI, the Trophy Club system allows players to register an e-mail address or cell phone number with the game so that if your score has been beat by someone else, an alert will be sent to you through one of the aforementioned methods so you can head back to the arcade and try and take back your score. You can create an account at coinup.com. As an operator I really like that idea as it’s a reminder for people to come back to my location and it creates a fun, competitive feeling around BBHPro. As I mentioned in my ASI coverage, Big Buck Safari is currently offline, but expect an online variation of BBS to come along later, perhaps the end of this year or the beginning of the next.

UPDATE: Funny thing happened today, I stopped by my local distributor and they had a BBHPro Online there so I decided to record a little bit of the cabinet. I couldn’t show the game really because it takes two hands to play. I did record it in HD but WordPress converts the videos into a low rez video so this will have to do.
