Ghost Squad (Wii) Japanese Trailer

September 13, 2007

After watching this video it looks as though Ghost Squad for the Wii is exactly the same as the arcade version, the only new addition is some 4 player Point Blank style target shooting games, I’m not sure whether the 4 player mode has made it over to the mission part of the game. Also I’m hoping there will be some extra mission on top of the arcade ones but we will have to wait and see.

Also a preview of the game has just been posted up on Eurogamer, which doesn’t answer my above questions, but does give you a good insight in to how the game is being received by the consumer gaming press.

Sega Announces Ghost Squad and Wii Zapper Bundle

August 6, 2007

Sega has not only announced that Ghost Squad for the Wii will be released on October 25th in Japan, but also that it will also be available as a bundle with the Wii Zapper (apparently, you can also purchase the game without the Zapper). There doesn’t seem to be any official word as to whether or not this will also be the case in America or elsewhere. At E3 2007, Nintendo of America announced that the Zapper will be packaged with an as yet unannounced first-party game for $20 USD.

Ghost Squad Interview With Producer Yosuke Okunari

June 7, 2007

Did I tell all you guys, how much I’m looking forward to this coming out on the Wii, no? Well after Halo 3, GTA4 and Mario Galaxy as my most anticipated games, comes Ghost Squad. As long as they get the controls spot on then I’m going to be happy. This is going to save me a lot of pound coins! Read on for an interview with the games Producer Yosuke Okunari via IGN.

“US, June 5, 2007– Sega of America recently revealed that it was underway with a Wii version of Ghost Squad, an arcade-based light-gun shooter refitted for Nintendo’s new remote. Players become a member of an elite squad sent out to take down terrorists. The action unfolds on rails and gamers need only point and shoot with the Wii remote to eliminate the bad guys. We caught up with the title’s creative producer, Yosuke Okunari, to chat about the game. We’ve included his thoughts along with fresh new Wii screenshots below.”

Ghost Squad Coming To Wii

May 10, 2007

[via Kotaku @ Sega’s Gamer Day]

“The next game they are announcing is Ghost Squad. Ghost Squad will be going exclusive to the Wii. Oh, and it will be playable here today.

The game appears to be a first person shooter with knives and gomes. Oh and it’s going to use a light gun. HOLY SHIT a LIGHT GUN.

You can unlock 25 tactical weapons and it looks an awful lot like Time Crisis.”

I guess they haven’t heard of Ghost Squad before, which again shows how far arcade is behind the home consoles in most gamers minds. Oh well, at least this game is coming to the Nintendo Wii, and hopefully this will raise the profile of the game. Also I’m personally psyched about this because I love Ghost Squad. I shall look forward to more news and info on this.

Addition Information via Wii Fanboy –

“This port will feature Wii-specific game modes, new ways to use the Wii remote as a “multi-purpose tool,” and four-player co-op support. We’ve got a few screenshots that we grabbed from Jeux-France.”

I’m not sure these are from the Wii version of the game, but I thought I’d put them up anyway.
