Target Toss Pro: Bags heads to the Wii

November 18, 2008

I found this as a little bit of a surprise as Incredible Technologies hasn’t taken many games over from the coin-op market to the home market (they did do a GT game for cell phones last year) but I suppose that services like WiiWare are becoming irresitible to tossitdevelopers from every corner and Toss Pro is a game where it’s a no-brainer to see it work with the Wiimote. I still haven’t played the arcade version of the game yet (I saw it at AMOA but spent my time playing Power Putt Golf) but I wonder if this means that IT will begin to send more of their games over to the Wii.

In another IT related topic, I noticed that the youtube service being offered by Golden Tee LIVE 2009 is in full swing now. If you type in ‘arcade’ or ‘Golden Tee’ and hit most recently added there are videos of great shots all over the place. I would need to practice quite a bit to manage some of those.

Some Tekken 6 talk

October 21, 2008

There’s been a lot of talk about fighters lately and as it turns out – here’s some more. Namco Japan sat down and talked about the arcade and console versions of Tekken 6 with Gamepro Magazine (I remember them – a long time ago they used to review arcades and pinball machines when it was OK to do so). They talk a bit about the online features for the game and how it will differ on the consoles from TEKKEN.NET (aka lag on the consoles for a variety of reasons) but they also talk some about extra goodies that the consoles will get in the end. They also acknowledge how bad of an idea it was for them to release Tekken 5 only two months after the arcade release, which soured some relations with operators who essentially got shafted by such a move. It’s all at the link below.

Rumour: Initial D for DS?

March 18, 2008

According to various sites we could be seeing a DS version of Initial D coming our way. Judging by these screen shots, presuming they are genuine, it doesn’t look bad for a DS game, and imagine how good Wi-Fi would be. Fingers crossed.

Rumour: New Resident Evil Arcade?

January 13, 2008

Could it be that Capcom are going to release another arcade version of thier popular survival horror game? I sure hope so. I have never seen, let alone played, Gun Survivor in an arcade, so I will look forward to seeing if this materializes.

Personally I really liked the way Silent Hill Arcade played, as slow paced as it was, so I will be really interested to see how Capcom adapt one of thier leading franchises for the arcade market.

In an interview with Resident Evil Fan, an aptly named resident Evil fan site, Umbrella Chronicles voice actor Tara Platt revealed that she had done some additional RE voice work besides her role as the Red Queen in UC. According to Platt, she simultaneously recorded the voice of Jill Valentine for an as yet unnamed Resident Evil (Biohazard) arcade game that will be released in Japan. When questioned about the new title, Platt had this to say:

The Japanese-based Biohazard is a game console that is available as an arcade game in Japan. And I mean an actual arcade standing game.
It was wonderful getting to play Jill. She’s such a fierce character with determination and strength. Unfortunately, I don’t have much more info than that, but I’m going to Japan this year, and you can bet I’ll be on the look-out for the game in Arcades there!

While her answer does seem a bit confusing, it sounds like we might hear something about this new game in the coming months. If this does turn out to be true, perhaps we might see a showing at this year’s TGS? Until then, I will cross my fingers and hope for the best.
