GRID, Let's Go Island launching soon

August 11, 2010

Sega Amusements UK has sent out invites to an upcoming product launch event and Kevin Williams shared with us what the invitation looks like.  6 new products are being launched there, including GRID which we first unveiled in June and Let’s Go Island which we have been hearing about throughout the year. I believe that the Sonic series that is mentioned is referring to Sega’s recent line-up of Sonic themed games such as air hockey and basketball but perhaps Sega has something more video-related planned for their mascot.  We have removed the date and address as requested as this is more to point out what we can expect to see and Arcade Heroes will be there to check it out when the event takes place.

Terminator Salvation 32" cabinet

August 11, 2010

It’s been a few weeks since we first heard about the new Terminator Salvation arcade cabinet that has a smaller 32″ screen and mounted guns but except for a quick look on the AAMA Gala video, we didn’t have a really good look at the cabinet until today. Beston has issued a press release showing a 3D mock-up of the cabinet, which you can see above. It looks much like the Aliens Extermination Deluxe cabinet, which isn’t terribly surprising considering that Play Mechanix developed that game as well. The MSRP wasn’t mentioned but I imagine that it will be somewhere under $7000, with a price and a cabinet size that makes it fit well in smaller locations.

We also were sent pics of the 32″ H2Overdrive unit (which we saw at Amusement Expo) and a clean pic of Super Bikes 2

More Japanese location tests reports: Darius Burst and Chaos Code

August 11, 2010

(Thanks to ECM for the tip on Darius)

When it comes to public location tests Japan rarely disappoints and we’ve got two to talk about today. First, popular game site Famitsu weighs in on the Darius Burst Another Chronicle location test with more pictures of how that went down. They get into more details about the seat, how the game controls, and how the different modes work. Don’t forget to tell Taito to consider an international release, if you haven’t already.

Second is from a new fighter called Chaos Code which tested two weeks ago at the Club Sega in Akihabara. 4Gamer.net has an overview of this game,  it’s a new 2D fighter with four buttons by FK Digital. The official Chaos Code website is here and I’ve found a video of it on Youtube.

So a Chicago Bulls Dancer and a Cagefighter walk into an arcade and…

Pic from a video shoot at Raw Thrills

On Raw Thrills’ Twitter feed yesterday, they posted a link to a picture showing a Chicago Bulls Dancer working on a video shoot for something that they are working on. This video shoot also includes a cagefighter from New York. So who wants to guess what these two have to do with each other and how they might fit into a game? Could be doing some last minute filming for Super Bikes 2 as I saw that it reused the crowds from previous games like Tokyo Drift. Or it could be something else – they have filmed people before for use in games like Big Buck Hunter and Safari and Target: Terror but this doesn’t look like it fits into any of those games. Either way it’s rare to see any photos being shared of the behind-the-scenes work in an arcade game in it’s development but we should find out what it’s for soon enough.

BTW- RT has confirmed that all of the original tracks from the first Super Bikes will be in SB2.

UPDATE: More pics from Raw Thrills’ Facebook page. These are definitely for the new Super Bikes 2.
