Apologies for the wait, but here is all the video footage that I managed to get at ATEI last week. Didn’t get every game unfortunately, but hopefully there’s enough here to get you excited! Also, I didn’t know if there’s a full list of Guitar Hero Arcade songs out there, so I managed to snag a vid of all the songs in the game.

Remember, if you have any post ATEI tips, then don’t be affraid to let us in on it. Cheers!

Sega releases Harley Davidson and Hummer to the US

February 4, 2009

harleyhummerlogoThe supposedly “dead” arcade industry has two more game releases to add to the list of what’s new in the US as several distributor websites are now listing the games HUMMER and Harley Davidson: King of the Road as available for purchase. I even picked up the flyers for both games although I don’t have a scanner handy at the moment to upload those in case anyone wants to see them. Both games have been shown at recent events such as IAAPA and ATEI and with this availability it won’t be long before some locations should have them around to play. The only thing I cannot find when scanning through several distributor sites is a price for either game although with Harley Davidson having a standard and a deluxe model that should vary a bit between the two and I’m not going to guess at how much they will cost.

Naturally, we will be moving both of these games from the “Upcoming” column to “Already Released” on our Master Arcade Release List for 2009.

Big Buck Safari Online tourney for February – Jungle Jam

February 4, 2009

Play Mechanix just wanted me to pass along the newest online tournament for Big Buck Safari and once again, 20 people have a chance at winning some cash. They also have simplified the process for claiming your prize, where you go to the Winner’s Circle on instead of calling a phone number. The tournament is running now on online enabled versions of BBS. Good luck!

Some game records set at ATEI 2009

February 4, 2009

There was more to ATEI 2009 than just showing off some games – there were some gaming records to be set as well! The Guiness World Records Team was at the show and caught two records, one for the fastest completion time on Sega Rally 3’s championship mode, set by Matthew Page (it was 6 min. and 34.47 secs – my are they meticulous) and the second was for the fastest completion of the Frozen Tundra course on the yet-to-be-released H2Overdrive by Kevin Williams (of the Stinger Report; his time was 1 min 34.35 sec). So congrats to them both for setting the records and for giving us another look at the H2Overdrive cab (which Kevin is playing above).

EVO Championship Series 2009 Game line-up announced

February 4, 2009

Everybody’s favorite arcade fighter tournament, the Evolution Championship Series (aka EVO) is slowly coming up (it happens in July in good ol’ Las Vegas) and as such they have revealed the list of games one can expect to find if they go to the event. So if you fancy any of the games on the list and you want to compete, there is plenty of time for you to get in some practice. The games are:

Street Fighter IV

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Soul Calibur IV

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

Street Fighter III: Third Strike

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (Exhibition)

Strangely BlazBlue is missing from the list but that is likely because the console version hasn’t come along yet, which is too bad really. It also would be awesome to see KOFXII there which will be available by July but I guess this is more of a “games that appeared on arcades but are available on consoles” sort of thing as all the games will be running on a console of sorts instead of a proper arcade machine.  They also dropped Super Smash Bros. Brawl from the tournament so no luck there in case you happen to be a champion at that game but on on these other fighters.Either way it looks like a good line-up and should prove to be quite an entertaining competition to watch.

Yoshinori Ono answers questions about the arcade version of SFIV

February 4, 2009

I apologize for the lack of updates the past couple of days, my internet access is being strained by the necessity of other duties in life but I will be giving updates as often as I possibly can while this tumultuous phase in my life goes on. At the very least a lot of progress is being made at my new arcade location. One of the hardest things about putting an arcade together is that you want to stop and just play the games all the time but you need to pull yourself back and focus.

p_02But onto other things related to arcades, this time some more stuff on everyone’s favorite arcade game, Street Fighter IV. The game’s producer Yoshinori Ono has been interviewed many times about the game but sometimes those are about the console version whereas the interview we are linking to below focuses primarily on the arcade version of the game. He does briefly mention that they are working on some new arcade titles although he does not say what those are (everyone keeps hoping for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 of course) and for some reason does not mention the Taito Type-X2 board by name when talking about the hardware but otherwise if you can’t get enough of SFIV info, here you go. He does take another shot at arcades in the US as on the decline (I wonder what his evidence is though since he keeps spouting this over and over again and if it’s based on hard fact or pure anecdotes – and we saw recently from the Play Meter Report that there are more arcades in the US now than the year prior but I digress) but does open the door for SFIv action in Micronesia and Australia.
