Shaggy's Weekly Review – Rockin' Bowl-a-Rama by Namco

November 21, 2007

I had a chance to play a bowling arcade game this past week and I figured it would be nice to check it out. Since bowling games have had a surge in popularity as of late, it’s only appropriate to see what the arcade side of the genre has to offer.  Unfortunately I cannot find any direct screenshots of the game, so next time I come across this game, I will take some pictures. Here’s Rockin’ Bowl-a-rama!

Rockin’ Bowl-A-Rama by Namco

Players: 1-4

Released: 2006

The Game

Rockin’ Bowl-A-Rama provides a fun experience for any player who seeks virtual bowling entertainment. There are four game types to choose from: Regulation, Trick Shot, Blackjack Bowling and Ten-Pin Poker. The different types create appeal for any type of bowler, whether they are seeking a standard game (Regulation), something a little more interesting (Blackjack and Ten-Pin) or for a real challenge (Trick Shot). Each one of the game types can be played by 1-4 players. Blackjack and Ten-Pin turn bowling into a hybrid-poker tournament, for example in Blackjack, the pin count becomes the players blackjack card where you get three sets of ten pins and you need to try and take out 21 pins without busting. It’s not only a challenge but a lot of fun at the same time.

Fate: Unlimited Gods Website update

November 21, 2007

It certainly didn’t take long for the Fate: Unlimited Codes website to be updated(we reported about this new 3D fighter by Capcom a couple of days ago). Just the other day it was a simple teaser site, now they have a plethora of info (mostly in Japanese of course) up about the game. There are a number of screenshots on the site that take a closer look at the game although don’t expect anything too impressive as this uses System 246 hardware which is essentially a PS2 in a different case with some PC hookups. The site also provides links to sites that feature a video of the game in action. Still no word on if this will officially make it’s way overseas but we can certainly hope it will. Hit the post break to see a video of the game posted to Game Watch (JP).

Rare Shrike Avenger Cabinet on Ebay In Germany

November 21, 2007

One of readers tipped us off today of a very rare item now currently on sale on ebay. I honestly didn’t know too much about this game and cabinet and there doesn’t seem to be an abundance of info on the game and cabinet. Thankfully our tipster, Sara, gave us a couple of links

[Atari Museum]    [Killer List Of Videogames]

Sara writes……

This is a very rare Bally/Sente SAC II Cabinet. There was only one game made for the cabinet, Shrike Avenger. There were only 10-12 of these cabinets ever made. It was supposed to be a multi game cabinet but that never worked out. I have never even seen a photo of this cabinet outside of the one on the flyer, so this is the first. I was sure this cabinet did not survive this long, looks like it did.

Also below are the brochures for the cabinet and game.

Thanks Sara :-)
