Eternal Knights release from Konami; Sega's Initial D4 gets an update

August 6, 2007

Konami has released a new RPG for arcades in Japan known as Eternal Knights. It is a terminal based dungeon exploring game that unfortunately not see an international release but it looks really cool. One day I hope to see a new RPG in arcades outside of Japan – it seems like the last one I played (that isn’t considered a ‘real’ RPG by some standards) was Gauntlet Legends and that was almost 10 years ago.Perhaps one day if we are patient enough. Here are some screenshots thanks to Stinger.

On top of that, just weeks after the release of ID4 Ver. 1.2 in Japan Sega has alreadyinitd4.jpg released a software update for the game to enhance the online experience through the Sega ALL.NET network. While the upgrades were not specified, it is good to see Sega on top of these things, getting updates out in a timely manner for their arcade titles.

Chasing Ghosts movie website update

August 6, 2007

It’s been another slow weekend for arcade news(I think the Tilt review helps make up for it though, I hope you all enjoyed it), but that doesn’t keep me from keeping an eye out anyways. In checking in on the Chasing Ghosts website (a documentary about high score earners from classic arcade titles) I noticed that it has been updated with a few items including a summary, player profiles (definently the most interesting part of the update) and press reviews. It’s not much but it’s cool to look over the player profiles. I have not heard anything about the release of the film on DVD yet but it should be out soon.

Sega Announces Ghost Squad and Wii Zapper Bundle

August 6, 2007

Sega has not only announced that Ghost Squad for the Wii will be released on October 25th in Japan, but also that it will also be available as a bundle with the Wii Zapper (apparently, you can also purchase the game without the Zapper). There doesn’t seem to be any official word as to whether or not this will also be the case in America or elsewhere. At E3 2007, Nintendo of America announced that the Zapper will be packaged with an as yet unannounced first-party game for $20 USD.
