EA Sports NASCAR debuting at AAMA gala today

August 3, 2007

I believe I overlooked this press release with the America’s Army news. In addition to AA, GlobalVR will be showing off EA NASCAR at the AAMA Gala that has been going on this week. I caught something interesting in the press release where it states that John Ray ‘ex-Atari racing guru’ spearheaded the games development. He was one person behind San Fransisco Rush, although I couldn’t find any other racing games under his name (Rush is one of my favorite racing games however).  Hit the break for the press release.

Vector games on a giant projector screen at Siggraph

The SIGGRAPH technology conference will feature something interesting for classic arcade vector fans – they will feature a “vector graphics laser projection system” to allow for the play of games such as Tempest, Asteroids and Star Wars on a giant projector screen. The system will recreate a faithful vector experience on the large screen, which is typically lost on anything other than a true vector display. The games will be running off the actual microcode from the original titles so that nothing is lost and they will even feature a number of unnamed celebrities at the event to play the games.

If you have never experienced a classic vector arcade game then you don’t know what you are missing. I’ve always been enamored by the special effects that vectors can do, with their super-bright images and unique look. The existance of a vector projector is certainly something of interest to a fan like myself, although I do not doubt that it is expensive. I have also heard of these before, so I do not know if this is just a new way of doing it.  Hit the link to Gamasutra above for the full story.
