There are a lot of cool home arcades out there but few have attracted as much attention as Peter Hirschberg’s Luna City Arcade. He has built-up one of the finest collection of vector titles I have seen and that of course includes many very rare games which happen to be quite valuable. Even though it is a home arcade Peter has opened it up many times for people to go out and play (I think by doing previously scheduled parties). But that is soon to change, with Peter posting on the KLOV forums today that he is looking to sell the home along with much of the collection for someone else to enjoy. He will be keeping several games but for the most part, this is an opportunity for someone to own one of the best home arcades out there. It’s located in Virginia which is pretty much on the other side of the US from where I am. hopefully a good collector is able to pick this up and maintain it. It certainly will require a bit of work but for an arcade like that, it would be worth it.

So I picked this up on release a few weeks ago. I’d been waiting for the PC release because I have an X-Arcade stick and was looking forward to having the “arcade experience” at home. Much to my dismay, it appears SF4 only supports keyboard and 360 controllers. I can assign keyboard buttons to the arcade stick for one player, but not for the other.
Apparently they want to make recreating the arcade set up at home harder than it should be. In a way I can see why, otherwise it will be quite easy to take a high end PC and build your own cabinet. However this is not want I’m going too. So Capcom, please release a patch and support non 360 arcade sticks, please? Especially my X-Arcade stick!

Street Fighter IV will be out for the consoles in just a few short days and while you could go and buy the Mad Catz sticks to get that supposedly authentic arcade experience, the
company Dream Arcades has created a home arcade cabinet that is made just for fighters like SFIV. Users can plug a PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 into the cabinet and then start enjoying fighting games on the ‘real’ thing. It even comes with Hyper Street Fighter II, Street Fighter III – 3rd Strike and Street Fighter IV to get you started. The press release after the break holds more details.

For those of you who read the site way back when, you may remember a company called Surface Tension. They make, by far, the coolest home arcade tables you have ever seen. Well there is now a new model, which is soon to be available, and it looks good! Different enough from the previous model, but still discreet, this sexy new model comes in either a Oak or Walnut finish and has the classic Surface Tension fold out controls.
