Who is up for an Arcana Heart Vs. Blazblue game?

April 1, 2010

While Vs. Fighting games which bring two different licenses or fighters together are nothing new in the arcade industry, when a new one happens it usually causes a stir of excitement simply because it usually brings fans from both sides together to play the game. Capcom might be known for doing most of these kinds of fighters, as we have seen with the Marvel. Vs. Capcom series, or Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and other have done it to, including SNK.

So what would happen if developer Examu, who has a few fighters under their belts, decided to combine two of their popular fighters together? We might be getting just that with Arcana Heart Vs. BlazBlue game that the company is teasing about now. I say might due to the image above – I’m not sure if they are simply throwing the idea out there to see what fans think or if they already have something in the works. Either way there is no word on how the game will play out exactly if they decided to do it – as I still haven’t played BlazBlue yet, I don’t know how close it’s fighting system and style are to Arcana Heart’s but I imagine that it would be easier to pull this idea off than it would be to do a Virtua Fighter Vs. Tekken game (which BTW, I wonder if Namco/Sega gave up on that idea?).

It also looks like this isn’t the only VS. game being ‘announced’ in Japan today. ;)

Aaron Auzins found this out about the game:

Arcana Heart 3, Tetris Dekaris(Giant Tetris) released in Japan; Tetris at D&B in Illinois

December 23, 2009

Arcana Heart fans can rejoice as today Examu released the latest version of AH to arcades in Japan, Arcana Heart 3. The game features new characters, new arcana (elemental alignments that determine special moves for your characters) and of course, updated graphics. I haven’t seen a price for the game yet on any importing sites but they are listing the game already so I imagine that we’ll know how much it costs soon. As it runs on the ex-Board, it can’t go for all that much, I recall Arcana Heart 2 going for some great prices. For those of us who would like to add a new fighter to their game line-up but can’t afford things like the new BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, this is certainly tempting to pick up. I played Arcana Heart 2 at AMOA 2008 and it was surprisingly fun.

Also we have word that Sega has launched Tetris Dekaris (or as they are calling it here, Tetris Giant) in Japan as well. That means that a US release for this one can’t be far off, as you remember it was at IAAPA 2009. It’s a great game I just don’t think that they should be asking $10,000 for it, because even with huge joysticks and a projector screen, Tetris itself is still one of the most available games out there. Obviously I don’t know what the base cost is for building one of these but I can’t imagine that they are needing to recoup development costs here.

UPDATE: I have been informed that the Dave And Busters in Addison, IL has a Tetris Giant on location. (Thanks Sam!)

New details on Examu’s Arcana Heart 3 and SNK’s KOF Sky Stage

October 15, 2009

arcana3

(Thanks to Aaron Auzins for the information)

Another Examu fighter is just around the corner and thanks to both Famitsu and a translation by Aaron Auzins we have a little better idea on what will be seen in AH3. As you can kofsky1see above, the game fits into a similar art style as AH2 and like any new fighter sequel, it adds more characters into the mix. The Famitsu page with the information introduces three new characters along with their arcana, Petra, Elsa and Clarice. Arcana Heart 3 will be released sometime this winter so that could be by December or sometime early next year.  For a little more info, see the Famitsu article here.

Also of interest from Famitsu, we have a few more details on one of the stranger games to come along this year, SNK’s KOF Sky Stage, along with a few more screen shots. As far as included characters goes, we now know that Iori and Kula Diamond will be in the game and for those who are really interested in following the progress behind this one, the developers have launched a new blog (in Japanese) to chronicle their development of the game. KOF Sky Stage will be tested in Japan on the 17th and 18th of Oct.

Arcana Heart 3 gets an official website

August 29, 2009

It looks like Arcana Heart fans have another title in the series to look forward to, with Examu launching a teaser site for Arcana Heart 3 today. As it’s a teaser site there are basically no details available on the game at this time except that it will run on the ex-board again. As you might recall Arcana Heart 2 did get a small “official” release in the US when Andamiro brought the game over last year at AMOA 2008 so I wonder if they will do the same thing again with AH3.

Details on the new 2D fighter Demon Bride

June 6, 2009

Another new and interesting fighter is soon going to come out in Japan known as Demon Bride and thanks to Aaron Auzins, here is an in-depth look at the upcoming game and the hardware it runs on known as the eX-BOARD. Andamiro has already brought one eXamu game to the states with Arcana Heart 2, so here’s hoping that they will keep it up with Demon Bride as well.

Here’s Aaron’s article, to which we thank him for the contribution!
****************************************
Examu has announced to Famitsu, its newest 2-D fighting product, Demon Bride, will be ready to hit arcades in Japan on July 16. If you’re scratching your head, Examu is the development muscle behind Arcana Heart and its recent sequel.demon2

The fighting game takes on a holy vs. hell theme, but still maintains Arcana Heart’s four-button scheme of weak attack, strong attack, shooting (formerly the Arcana deity assist in the latter series) and dashing. For those intimidated by the fast-paced action, a simple mode can be activated for easier activation of moves.

Six specific arcades in Japan have received “early experience events.” It also appears prizes are being awarded through the course of the events and players can enter for a chance to win one of six prizes – entries will be taken through June 12 and five people will be chosen to receive a Demon Bride clear file case and felt coaster and one lucky winner will be sent a Demon Bride coffee mug.

More information on the US release of Arcana Heart 2

September 29, 2008

I did a follow-up with Satinder Bhutani, Executive Vice President at Andamiro USA and I was able to get a little more information on the US release of the Japanese girl-on-girl fighter, Arcana Heart 2. Here’s some of the extra details:

  • The version used will be the original version NOT the new update.
  • The game will be released in the 2nd week of October
  • The game will be distributed through Andamiro’s authorized distributors so prices will vary BUT the price should be around $1,500 plus shipping.
  • Andamiro expects to bring more titles to the US running on the eX-Board by Examu
  • No information on a European release at this time

So there you have it! When they said very low price they weren’t kidding – $1500 in the arcade world, even for a new kit isn’t bad at all, especially when you look at how much they are charging for Type X2 boards. It’s low enough that I could probably afford this for my arcade although I’ll need to find a proper cabinet to put it in with a high-res monitor.  It also should be interesting to see what other titles will be headed over, who knows, if Examu plays their cards right we could have another NeoGeo-like platform on our hands with many games.
