Arcade auction in North Carolina draws some nice attention from local media

Arcade auctions are always great places for, collectors as well as current or prospective operators to obtain some great games for a decent price and this particular auction, which happened today looks like it offered some great deals on a number of good games. The games at this auction came from a restaurant in North Carolina that shut down about a year ago and I am surprised by everything they had there as you don’t normally expect restaurants to carry some of these games. You can see more at this video here (warning: cheesy spot with a reporter acting like he’s playing Rolling Extreme) or at the article on wwaytv3.com.

Sega brings Project Diva to the arcade scene

It looks like Sega is going to make a move into the arcade rhythm game business, by bringing a PSP title to the realm of coin-operated gaming. Not much is known about what they will do with the arcade version yet except that Sega is letting players in Japan contribute song choices to the game and I would not be surprised if this uses a touch screen interface since that is all the rage at the moment when it comes to rhythm based arcade titles. A little more info can be found via this link or via the link below.

Microsoft looking to bring it's own virtual arcade to XBL?

It certainly looks that way according to some console news sources. Now that Microsoft has copied Nintendo’s Mii’s with their Avatar’s, now they are looking at possibly coping Sony’s virtual arcade scene from Playstation Home. Of course the PS Home arcade isn’t the first virtual arcade ever seen but these ideas showing up on home consoles is at least interesting and will continue to clog search engines with information on things that don’t have anything to do with actual arcades. But it’s not another “nail in the coffin” for us and I guess you could say that this is more flattering than anything else. It does interest me that they are using an Atari theme in the pics, they could look into the old Atari Adventure Center for some ideas.
